Celebrating the life of

Patricia C. Eddy

November 09, 1928 - October 04, 2014

Patricia C. Eddy

Savannah – Patricia C. Eddy 85, died, October 4, 2014 at home surrounded by her husband Ralph, daughter Prudence, and son-in-law Bruce Chong.

Patricia is the daughter of the late Norman L. Cloutier and Claire Nolan Cloutier of West Hartford, Connecticut, Rye, New York, and Greenfield, Massachusetts. She was born on November 9,1928 in Hartford, Connecticut, and lived in Savannah for thirty-five years.

During WWII, Patricia volunteered for the Voice of America. She graduated from Rye High School, Rye, New York. She was active in The Rye Playhouse. Patricia graduated from Middlebury College, Middlebury, Vermont where she majored in French and English Literature and was Vice President of Kappa Delta sorority and a member of the field hockey team. Patricia did graduate work at The State University at Buffalo.

Patricia taught school in Longmeadow, Massachusetts, Williamsville, New York, Buffalo, New York, and Savannah, Georgia. In Buffalo, she taught in the inner city for a federally funded program. In Savannah, after she stopped teaching, she became Chairman of Volunteers at The Red Cross.

Patricia’s greatest gifts were her sense of humor, quick wit, her kindness, and her ability to always champion the underdog. She believed that every child had potential. Pat was an avid reader, cross word puzzle solver, and was never at a loss for words. While living in Buffalo, Pat was a big sports fan of the local teams and attended all Buffalo Bills games, as well as the Buffalo Sabre’s. However, she enjoyed living in Savannah, and truly appreciated the city’s charm and beauty.

Patricia is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ralph, daughter Prudence, son-in-law Bruce Chong of Savannah Georgia, daughter Claire McGuffey, son-in-law Donald McGuffey, of Alpharetta, Georgia, son Dr. Ralph Eddy, daughter-in-law Jane Eddy of Asheboro, North Carolina, Granddaughter Brooke McGuffey of Alpharetta, Georgia, and grandson Michael Eddy and wife Bianca, of Boston, Massachusetts.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Joseph DeHaven, and his wonderful staff: Cathy, Sandy, Misty, Jennifer, and Omesha, as well as Dr. Mark Murphy, and St. Joseph’s radiology department, Dr. James Edwards, Ashley, Lynn, Karen and Gina for their care, kindness and compassion during Patricia’s long illness. We would also like to thank Keetra and Nicole for being there when we needed them most, and the Southside Fire Department at the Landings for repeatedly answering the call when needed.

The service and interment will be private and at the pleasure of the family.

Remembrances in lieu of flowers should be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
